His journey in the industry began at Neely Printing Company in Chicago, where his background in accounting and finance sparked a deep interest in the management aspects of the printing business. Bob's involvement grew when he joined the Printing Industry of Illinois Association, which eventually led to his role as Executive Director of the Printing Industries Association, Inc. of Southern California in 1981.

As President and CEO of PIASC, Bob expanded membership to over 2,000 firms and significantly increased the services provided to support member businesses. His 35-year tenure laid the foundation for PIA's growth, making it the largest regional graphic communications association in the U.S. Bob was widely respected for his management expertise and dedication to helping printing firms navigate challenges.

He was also deeply involved in national industry organizations, serving on various committees and boards of PIA. His contributions were recognized with awards, including being inducted into the Printing Industries of America's Hall of Fame in 2010. He was a frequent speaker, author and advocate for the industry, supporting firms with advice and guidance throughout his career.

Bob's legacy includes initiatives like the "Choose Print" campaign, promoting print as a sustainable communication method. Even after retiring in 2017, Bob continued his involvement through his consultancy and newsletters, offering guidance to printing firms across the nation until shortly before his death.
