As businesses begin planning for 2027, uncertainty surrounding future postage rates remains an important concern for the printing and mailing industry.
According to the August 24 edition of Mailers Hub News, the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) denied a request from the United States Postal Service (USPS) to modify how certain pricing adjustments are calculated.
The USPS had sought permission to use estimated and unaudited financial and volume data to accelerate access to additional pricing authority. The request was connected to the Postal Service's proposed transition from July to January as the annual adjustment period for market-dominant postal products.
However, the PRC determined that the proposed approach did not meet the requirements for a waiver, citing concerns about the use of estimated data, rate stability, and the need for a more comprehensive regulatory review.
