Print Week 2025 Conclusion

Print Week opened in the Southern Region with a celebration of the creativity, craftsmanship and dedication that define the industry. The event brought together professionals whose passion and innovation continue to drive print forward, showcasing the remarkable work being done across the field. Recognizing outstanding contributions remains at the heart of these celebrations, highlighting both the artistry and technical expertise that shape the industry’s future.

One of the night’s highlights was the presentation of the Printer of the Year award, presented to Cathy Lindemann of Evolution creative solutions.

John Bartik of Western & Southern Financial Group took the stage to introduce Cathy. He highlighted her impressive career, contributions to the industry and unwavering dedication. He described her as an incredible force who inspires peers and sets new standards of excellence.

As Cathy accepted her award, she delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to her colleagues and loved ones. She humbly shared that she stands tall because of her peers and couldn’t do it without her family She closed with a simple but sincere thank you, leaving the audience moved by her words.

The ceremony continued with another standout moment as we presented the 38th Annual William Maxwell Award to Innomark Communications.

Phil Weinrich of Roberds Converting took the stage to honor the company, reflecting on Innomark’s success and strong company culture. He emphasized how their influence extends throughout the southern region, demonstrating leadership, innovation and a commitment to excellence.

As Steve Zick stepped up to accept the William Maxwell Award, he reflected on Innomark’s journey—one built on bold decisions, resilience and a commitment to forging their own path. Rather than following the crowd, the company has always been guided by its customers, choosing to grow through trial and error. While past failures have been part of the process, they have also been valuable lessons, reinforcing their belief in taking a shot at something new. Steve concluded with heartfelt gratitude, thanking GMA, their clients, dedicated staff and valued suppliers for their support and trust in the company’s vision.

The Central Region reception brought together industry professionals, students and sponsors for an evening dedicated to recognizing achievements and innovations in print. The event provided a unique opportunity for seasoned experts and the next generation of print professionals to connect, exchange ideas and celebrate the ongoing evolution of the industry. The reception highlighted the creativity, craftsmanship and technological advancements that continue to shape the future of print.

This year’s Franklinton Award was presented to Bill Rippel in recognition of his achievements. Rob Morris of WestCamp introduced Bill, highlighting his extensive history in the print industry and his many accomplishments. While many past Franklinton Award winners have been business owners or leaders, Rob emphasized that true value comes from those working behind the scenes. Bill played a critical role in installing printing presses across numerous facilities in the Central Ohio region, making a lasting impact on the industry.

Upon accepting the award, Bill expressed his gratitude and humility. He acknowledged the support of God and Graphic Media Alliance and reflected on how the industry has evolved over the years. Though he did not recognize as many faces as he once might have, he was glad to reconnect with colleagues and see continued growth in the field. He extended his appreciation to those who nominated him and wished everyone a prosperous 2025.

Andrew Schall, president of GMA added to the recognition by recalling a remarkable story of Bill’s dedication—traveling to Germany to disassemble a press, shipping it back home, and reassembling it at the plant. His commitment and expertise have left a lasting mark on the industry, making him a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

The Northern Region reception brought together print professionals for an evening dedicated to celebrating the creativity and excellence that drive the print industry forward. The event provided a platform for networking, recognition and reflection on the innovations shaping the field. With a strong turnout and enthusiastic participation, the reception highlighted the dedication and craftsmanship that continue to make print a dynamic and evolving industry.

It was a privilege to celebrate Kathy Bush of VisComm as she was inducted into the Hall of Distinction.

Dave Kaufman of Brothers Printing and Jim Leitch of Wikoff Color Corporation, both Hall of Distinction members, introduced Kathy and highlighted her extensive achievements. With her induction, she and her husband, Pat Bush, who was previously honored, become only the second couple in the Hall of Distinction’s history to receive this recognition.

When reflecting on past recipients, Kathy expressed her deep appreciation and humility at being recognized among such distinguished individuals. She thanked Graphic Media Alliance and those involved in the selection process, acknowledging the many changes and remarkable people who have shaped her career. She emphasized that no journey is undertaken alone, crediting her husband, Pat, as her greatest mentor and partner throughout her career. She also gave special thanks to Tim Pluhar and Kim Burgess, the backbone of the business from the very beginning, and to Chris Schell and the younger generation for bringing fresh ideas and renewed energy to the company.

Passionate about mentoring students, Kathy spoke about the importance of fostering connections between industry veterans and emerging talent. She believes that collaboration between experienced professionals and the next generation is essential for the industry's continued success. Her induction into the Hall of Distinction serves as a testament to her dedication, leadership and lasting impact on the field.

The GMA “Print Week World Tour” came to a fitting conclusion with the Michigan Region reception on March 20, marking the first day of spring with a celebration of industry progress and collaboration. The event brought together passionate professionals, highlighting the strides made in workforce development and scholarships through PIEF.

Excitement filled the room as attendees learned about the latest initiatives supporting the next generation of print professionals. Enthusiasm grew even further with the announcement that Graphic Media Alliance and PIEF will serve as financial sponsors of Girls Who Print, reinforcing a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion within the industry. With new opportunities for mentorship and support, the future of print continues to shine brightly.
