One Less Thing
Source: Bill Farquharson, July 28, 2025
Loyalty programs. You cannot make a purchase these days without being asked to join the club. It will only take a minute. You'll get special offers. My response it's almost always, no thank you. Most clerks leave it at that but if they press, I'll add, “I don't want one more thing in my life. I want one less thing.”
I bring this same thinking to many the AI applications I either hear about or am told about. Replay.ai can record all of your computer activity, allowing you to back up to any one specific point. Crystal Knows scrapes the Internet to learn about a prospect’s personality type so that you can shape your message properly and successfully. You can feed an entire manual into Notebook LM and then get questions answered in plain English.
Great. But are those solutions what I actually need?
AI is truly incredible and you can receive a LOT of value from its capabilities. But don’t follow it down a rabbit hole blindly. It takes time to learn and master an AI agent and that makes it one more thing.
Choose to invest your time in AI when you can see the long-term benefit, not because it solves a problem you don’t currently have. Conversely, identify and understand your present sales challenges and look for AI tips, tricks, and hacks that solve them. That’s the smarter approach.

Read MoreWill Your Workers Walk Out on May 1?
A coalition of activist and labor groups is calling for a nationwide “no work, no school, no shopping” action on May 1 (International Workers’ Day) framed by some organizers as a general strike.
