250 Years Later, Print Still Gives America a Voice

This Fourth of July, Americans gather to celebrate 250 years of independence, freedom, and opportunity. It is a time to reflect on the vision of our nation's founders and the generations who have worked to preserve the principles that continue to define the United States.

As members of the printing and graphic communications industry, this celebration carries special meaning.

From the earliest newspapers and pamphlets to the Declaration of Independence itself, print played a central role in America's founding. It carried ideas from town to town, informed citizens, encouraged debate, and united thirteen colonies around a common purpose. Before there were broadcasts, websites, or social media, there was print.

Two and a half centuries later, that mission continues.

Every day, our industry helps organizations communicate, educate, inspire, and build trust. We produce the books that teach our children, the packaging that delivers products safely, the direct mail that drives commerce, the signage that guides our communities, and the printed materials that support businesses, schools, nonprofits, and governments across the country.

While technology continues to evolve, the power of print remains constant: to inform, to connect, and to leave a lasting impression.

We also want to recognize our friends at The Printing Industry of the Carolinas (PICA) for launching a year-long initiative celebrating print's role in America's 250th anniversary. Their campaign highlights the extraordinary contributions printers have made throughout our nation's history while reminding us that our industry's story is still being written today.
